I’ve been thinking about division and how it increases the heaviness of our burdens. When we divide and have an us or them view it narrows our potential support, resources and opportunities for new possiblities. This makes any load that we are carrying that much harder to bear and move.
Think of it this way: If there is only one hauling the cart with the load it can be a struggle. It takes so very long to make the cart move and to deliver the load to its destination. This method can feel overwhelming. It keeps you isolated by doing it all alone.
Likewise, if there are two pulling the cart from opposite directions it becomes a tug of war. Each one is straining to make the load move even an inch in the direction they are headed. Ground may be gained but it can easily be lost as they exert all of their strength against each other. As you might imagine the load may never arrive because each one has a bull-headed destination in mind. I’ve termed it such to illustrate that each one pulling in opposing directions only gives consideration to what they want, to what is important to them.
Right now we are all carring a similar load called COVID-19. The coronavirus is a scary and heavy load that requires us all to pull together in the same direction toward a mutual destination. Both the direction and destination are; health, wellness and a way to move forward that does more than just get us through it. I’d like to see us all arrive at our destination healthy, well and uplifted because we did pull together.
In order for that to happen we have to let go of petty differences and judgements that slot people into disparaging categories. We have to release blame and shame, criticism and stubbornly wanting it our way. We must move beyond all of that limited way of thinking and being.
We are being called to a higher consciousness where we consider others feelings and needs equally to our own. Each of us can begin to offer compassion, kindness, love, hope and support to everyone without constrant. We all could use more of these qualities offered to us each day. Let us find ways to pull together, even while practicing social distancing, to lighten everyone’s load…including your own.
Living in the “Land of the Free” and feeling free might be considered as an automatic compliment to each other. In an ideal world that concept would be true. For any of you living in this country or others where feeling free is not your experience here are some tips toward gaining a feeling of liberation.
First, think about some things that you want. Then, design some goals one at a time using this process. Clarify what lifts you up or makes life flow with ease as you come up with a goal. Next, design the steps you can take to accomplish the goal. Break it down into realistic, attainable steps. Determine what, if any, obstacles are in the way or may get in the way. Come up with a plan to remove the blocks or view them from a new perspective that can support your goals. Now do the action steps and clear or re-frame any impediments. When you realize your goal take time to celebrate and find a way to reward yourself for making it happen!
As you become more tuned to what you want based upon what is truly meaningful to you, freedom becomes the lift to give you flight. You begin to feel as if you are effortlessly gliding. Wishing you a glorious and liberating trip!

Have you ever found yourself stuck in the muck? I sure have! Sometimes I fall in in & as if that’s not enough I lay down and roll around in it. There have been times that I’m sunk to my knees. Once I become aware that I am there it can seem difficult to pull myself out. There have been times when I’ve felt weighed down, paralyzed, alone and uncertain about where to go or what to do. It is not a fun place to be!
I also know without a doubt that something or someone will arrive to help lift me up. It might be a kind word or a smile. Some transcendent Presence may throw some rain my way to wash me off. Who knows, maybe inspiration strikes or I see life from a new perspective. It doesn’t have to be something big and flashy to lift you though, it could be anything at all. Today I received the gift of a milkshake and french fries and they lifted me up! Not for what they were but because someone cared enough to think of me and bring them to me. That in and of itself was more than enough!
Plus keep in mind that all of that mud and uh…fertilizer is great for growing something new and wonderful! And your skin may turn out looking amazing without a trip to the spa. Those are benefits to the muck that you may not have thought of before.
Seriously though hang on, assistance it on the way. If you find yourself in down in the muck and need help getting out, as we all sometimes do, look for something to lift you up. However small it may appear, it will arrive. Count on it!
